[15.7] Is there an XObject available to do...?

Who knows? There are all sorts of wacky XObjects around, and if what you want is pretty obvious it's quite likely someone somewhere has written it already. Actually finding the darn thing can be another thing entirely. Probably the best place to start looking is Macromedia's own web site:
    http://www.macromedia.com
which holds quite a few demo versions of commercial XObjects. For free or shareware XObjects, look at the Director Web site and marvyn hortman's sharedcast ftp site:
    http://www.mcli.dist.maricopa.edu/director/
    ftp://ftp.sharedcast.com/pub
There are also a large number of XObjects on Gray Matter Design's MediaBook CD for Director (see section 4.2 for details).

If all these fail, try posting a query to the Direct-L. Someone may have or know of just the XObject you want, or they may be in the process of writing it. If all else fails, you may just find someone willing to write it for you (though that may not come cheap!)
