Program for Faculty Professional Growth

The various FPG programs are explained here in detail. Each section includes the steps in the process and links to appropriate materials you will need for an application. Program areas include:

  1. Salary Advancement
    offer opportunities for advancement horizontally on the salary schedule, including pathways for:

    1. Academic Advancement
      for undergraduate and graduate coursework.
    2. Non-Academic Advancement
      for participation in activities outside of academic coursework


  2. Sabbatical Leaves/Professional Leaves
    offers in-depth opportunities for study, research, travel, suitable work experience, or other creative activities.

  3. Summer Projects
    are activities and experiences of professional knowledge and expertise that occur between the last day of accountability of the current academic year and before the first day of accountability for the next academic year.

  4. Registration Fees
    provide reimbursement for fees associated with classes, conferences, workshops or professional meetings that will increase knowledge or skills enhancing one's role at the college.

This guide also includes information for reimbursement of travel expenses for professional growth activities and the steps for obtaining Professional Unpaid Leave of Absences for extended time to conduct professional growth.

Finally, you will find as a reference a detailed explanation of the appeals process for any FPG application and the important definitions for "pre-approval" as it pertains to professional growth.
