Basics of Space Flight
This training module introduces concepts associated with these basics to employees new to the space flight operations environment. This module is the first in a sequence of training modules that pertain to space flight operations activities.
Center for Atmospheric and Space Sciences
provides a strong interdisciplinary focus for applied and theoretical research related to basic processes present in the upper atmosphere. CASS is located at Utah State University
Comet Shoemaker-Levy...
Goddard Space Flight Center * Jet Propulsion Laboratory * Top 20 images
The Face of Venus (FOV)
is an interactive document, database and atlas of surface features of the planet Venus.
High Energy Astrophysics Science Archive Research HEASARC
supports a multi-mission archive facility in high energy astrophysics for scientists all over the world. Data from space-borne instruments on spacecraftare provided, along with a knowledgeable science-user support staff and tools to analyze mutliple datasets. The HEASARC activity is a joint effort between the Laboratory for High Energy Astrophysics (LHEA) and the National Space Science Data Center (NSSDC)
Humans in Space
examines the question in more detail and provides an introduction to the basic problems and theories of space biomedical research.
Infrared Imaging
is a subsidiary of the Geosciences Node of NASA's Planetary Data System, located at the Thermal Emission Spectroscopy Laboratory at Arizona State University
Infrared Processing & Analysis Center (IPAC)
The Infrared Processing and Analysis Center exists to carry out large, data-intensive processing tasks of critical importance to NASA's infrared astronomy program, and to provide scientific expertise on those projects to the astronomical community. IPAC is operated by the California Institute of Technology, Jet Propulsion Laboratory under contract to the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).
Jet Propulsion Laboratory (NASA)
Managed for NASA by the California Institute of Technology, the Jet Propulsion Laboratory is the lead U.S. center for robotic exploration of the solar system. JPL spacecraft have visited all known planets except Pluto (a Pluto mission is currently under study for the late 1990s). In addition to its work for NASA, JPL conducts tasks for a variety of other federal agencies. In addition, JPL manages the worldwide Deep Space Network, which communicates with spacecraft and conducts scientific investigations from its complexes in California's Mojave Desert near Goldstone; near Madrid, Spain; and near Canberra, Australia.
John F. Kennedy Space Center (KSC)
has primary responsibility for ground turnaround and support operations, prelaunch checkout and launch of the Space Shuttle and its payloads, including NASA's eventual Space Station.
JPL Space Calendar
covers space-related activities and anniversaries for the coming year.
NASA Astrophysics Data System (ADS)
is a distributed environment that provides access to a variety of astronomical data for the scientific user community. At present the main emphasis is on the abstract service, which includes access to over 160,000 abstracts which can be searched by author, object name, keyword, title, or abstract text words. In addition, the ADS provides access or pointers to astronomical data catalogs and data archives, thereby making data collected by NASA space missions available to astronomers.
Malin Space Science Systems, Inc.
led the effort to build and operate the Mars Observer Camera on the ill-fated Mars Observer mission. They are currently preparing MOC 2 for flight on Mars Global Surveyor in 1996.
NASA Images
from the Image Sciences Division of NASA's Johnson Space Center. This collection includes press release and Earth observation images from the manned space program from Mercury to the present.
The Planetary Society
Founded by renowned scientists Carl Sagan and Bruce Murray, the Planetary Society promotes the exploration of the planets and the search for extraterrestrial life.
Planetary GIF Images
This catalog is maintained at the MIT Microwave NASA Planetary system subnode. It points to files stored at NASA Ames Research Center in Mt. View, California.
The Spacecraft Planetary Imaging Facility (SPIF)
is sponsored jointly by NASA'S Planetary Geology and Geophysics Program and Cornell University. SPIF has over a hundred thousand images returned from the United States planetary exploration program. The collection encompasses images from the earliest Ranger photographs of the Moon through the most recent data returned from the Voyager encounter with Neptune; the Magellan Venus mapping mission; and the Galileo flybys of Venus, Earth, and the asteroids Gaspra and Ida. Data are constantly being included as they become available.
Space Environment Laboratory
The Space Environment Laboratory (SEL) concerns itself with the Sun and the environment between the Sun and the Earth. It conducts research in solar-terrestrial physics, develops techniques for forecasting solar and geophysical disturbances, and provides real-time monitoring and forecasting of solar and geophysical events.
Students for the Exploration and Development of Space (SEDS)
SEDS is an independent, student-based organization which promotes the exploration and development of space. SEDS pursues this mission by educating people about the benefits of space, by supporting a network of interested students, by providing an opportunity for members to develop their leadership skills, and inspiring people through our involvement in space-related projects. SEDS believes in a space-faring civilization and that focussing the enthusiasm of young people is the key to our future in space.
