A Report from the Warehouse Inventory Supervisor...
The Maricopa Learning eXchange (MLX)'s corrent stock includes 1787 "packages" from very compact to mammoth. It is a good thing we hired good architects!"

- Teaching Strategies
These might include a particular lesson, technique, method, activity, assignment that you either developed or applied in teaching. The packing slip might contain a description of the strategy with perhaps some outcomes described. Additional materials might be a Word/PDF document version of a handout, an image of engaged students, or a link to a web site created that describes the activity.

These types of packages might include a description of the study or the idea, and include examples of the results (even if they were not the intended results, they are likely useful to a colleague). Additional materials might be Word/PDF document as a report, a PowerPoint show presented from a conference, or a link to a web site that describes the project.

- Learning Objects
Objects are any sort of digital media asset created for or used in the context of learning. They might even be "re-usable" if they are self-contained, and can be easily incorporated into other delivery systems. Examples might be Excel Spreadsheets created for lab activities, Java, shockwave applets that provide an interactive way to explore a concept or method, PowerPoint modules that include information on a specific topic, video or flash animations, and many more.

- Applied Resources
A great package need not be just ones created from scratch- it is also useful to share how perhaps commercial software or a particular web resource site was used in a creative or effective way. This sort of package would describe the rationale and outcomes of using/adapting the resource and perhaps a description of what was learned or gained from its use.

- Web-Based Activities
This kind of package can describe a web site created for a course or an activity developed that makes unique use of an external web site as a resources, such as a WebQuest or a Real-Time Data Project. Or it may be a description of a specific technology or teaching strategy employed in a web course management system.

- Online Courses
A full online course might be described as a package, even if it has limited or no access in a web course management system. The course might be described in words, or perhaps instructions are provided for guest access.

- Projects
Many projects can be described as a MLX package. They might be ones that have been awarded as Learning Grants, fellowships, internships, sabbaticals, summer projects, etc. They also might include descriptions of special college initiatives. Some of the materials might be Word/PDF versions of final reports, PowerPoint presentations describing the project, or links to web sites that document the project.
