Nuts 'n Bolts, Bricks 'n Clicks... What is the Future?
Wednesday May 23 (2:15 - 4:00 PM)
Goal: Engage technology leaders in envisioning the future and brainstorming ideas to help reach it.
Format: Present the vision and then discuss how to get there: 50 minutes of short presentations from Maricopa leadership followed by 30 minutes small group discussion and 15 minute summary/report. Compile results after the retreat to provide a road map for next year Ocotillo activity.
Panel Discussion: Representatives from leadership areas: NOTE: Streaming video clips are available as high quality QuickTime (broadband connections) or 56k Real Video.
Ron Bleed, Vice Chancellor Information Technologies Services (ITS), Maricopa Community Colleges.
Ron Bleed shares the possibilities of a Pocket PC, and draws the connection between "wearable" computing and coffee shops.

Participants form small groups of 6-8 people to discuss how we make these visions happen:
- What infrastructure is needed?
- What training/support is needed?
- How can it be funded?
- What will be the most critical issues to solve between now and 2006?
- What can/should be addressed as a district?
- What can/should be addressed at the colleges?
- What is the role Ocotillo in achieving this future?
